There are also new endgame challenges, completely new skills, and PvP support. The team also states that they plan to “take every weak or unusable skill” and tweak it to allow players to make fully-functioning builds around these skills, “opening up all kinds of options that didn’t exist previously”. Project Diablo 2 makes a number of improvements to the original, such as reworking spells and rebalancing runes, skills and items, as well as quality of life improvements. The mod is completely designed by fans, and looks to offer improvements to the title’s experience as if it never stopped development.
And while we’re still holding out hope for Diablo IV (whenever it gets released) to return to D2‘s style of gameplay, fans are still working on mods to improve the original Diablo II, such as Project Diablo 2. Blizzard’s iconic Diablo II hit the big 2-0 earlier this year.
